Research:
In this short play, Crystal and her boyfriend Jeff, are in their apartment and Crystal confronts Jeff about how she thinks that he should break up with her if he isn't happy. When Crystal is talking to Jeff in monologue she starts off with a tone of anger because she has put so much effort into their relationship. But towards the end of the monologue she has a tone of exhaustion, as if she is tired and emotionally drained from their relationship which is why she 'gives' Jeff permission to leave the relationship.
Planning:
The monologue I picked is quite short, so I decided to record how long it would take to read through it as it was quite short. After recording it I had to think about how I was going to articulate my words and where I was going to have breaks in between to make the monologue longer as it was quite short and it needed to be read up to a certain time. After figuring out where the breaks where going to be and articulating my words how I wanted, I then recorded how long it would take me to finish the monologue and it was the correct time needed for when I had to perform it.
When we were in class we had time to work with a partner and try and remember out monologues and working articulation, as I was working with Hanna we both were helping each other feedback on what could have gone better and what is needs to be worked on.
Problem Solving:
When we were practicing our monologue, I didn't come across any issues or problems when learning my chosen monologue and didn't get any feedback from Rob or Shenagh. Also due to the college being closed we didn't have much time get feedback from both, Rob and Shenagh.
Evaluation:
On April 2nd, we had perform our monologues to Rob, due to the college being closed I had to video myself performing my monologue and then send off my recorded monologue to Rob. Although I thought I was rushing my lines a little, but other then that I thought my I done really well my voice projection was good and I stayed in character.
Costume Ideas
A couple weeks ago I found the full script of the short play Lick my wounds online, and I was reading the description from the short play and it had said that 'Crystal' and 'Jeff' are in there apartment at nighttime having a discussion about their relationship. So my first costume idea was just normal pyjamas/sleep wear because 'Crystal' and 'Jeff' are just a normal couple having a disagreement in their apartment at nighttime just before they go to bed, so I thought it would have been a good idea as they both are in the comfort of their own home.
My next costume idea came from videos I watched on Youtube of other people performing the monologue I chose. The other costume idea was a normal plain black oversized jumper and black leggings. I chose this idea because I thought the colour black on 'Crystal' would show devastation and heartbreak as the colour black is a dark and depressing colour that shows pain and sorrow.
My final costume idea was sports wear like Tracksuits or sports leggings as those types of clothing can also be lounge wear. Also as they were having their discussion, 'Crystal' was arguing with 'Jeff' and gave off a sense of tension as if she was about the leave their apartment because they were breaking up and she had, had enough.
