WHO IS ALEXANDER HAMILTON ?

Alexander Hamilton was born in Charlestown, St Kitts and Nevis a small island in the West indies located between the Atlantic ocean and Caribbean seas on 11th January between the years 1755-1757.

Alexander was an American statesman, politician , legal scholar ,military commander, lawyer, banker and economist and one of The Founder Fathers of The United states.

Alexander's Childhood

Alexander was born and grew up in Charlestown the capital of Nevis located between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean seas.Alexander's mother and Father, Rachael Faucette and James Hamilton were married and shortly after James had left Rachael and her two sons James Jr and Alexander. Shortly after James had left Rachael and her two sons she had moved St Croix in the Virgin Island ruled by Denmark where she kept her two sons and had a small store to support from in Christiansted. When Alexander was a teen Rachael contracted yellow fever and died leave Alexander and his brother orphaned and was taken by a  prosperous merchant and was both sent to New York to continue with their education. 

Life in New York

October 1772 he arrived by ship in Boston and both the brothers proceed there to New York city where he took refuge with Hercules Mulligan, Hamilton was assisted selling cargo that was to pay for his education and support.In 1773 in preparation for college he attended Kings college in Columbia, New York City in autumn 1773 and attended as a private student. 

Hamilton's Achievements  

Hamilton was the first Secretary of The Treasury and also the main author of the economic policies of George Washington's administration. He also took lead of the federal goverment's funding of states' debts. 

Hamilton's early military life 

In 1775 and other kings college students joined a New York volunteer militia company called The Hearts of Oak. Hamilton started to study military history and tactics which prompt him into getting a promotion. 

What was happening in America during this time?

During 1775 Alexander was involved in; 

• and served in The American Revolutionary 
• January 3rd 1777 he became lieutenant Colonel

The central themes in the Hamilton play is Time, this is because Hamilton is constantly worrying if he will run out if time. Also while he is afraid of time he also motivated by time as he is a very hard worker. 

What type of musical is it?

the musical Hamilton is heavily based on Hip-Hop as well as R&B, Pop and Soul. 

In my opinion I think the Hamilton play is very different from other plays/theatre productions I've seen before because I've never seen a play with so many different types of genre in music. 

While watching the production the ensumbles really stood out to me as I have a passion for dance and inspired me to take on musical theatre as an experience as I really enjoyed the play.
